  1. Does Verizon Wireless offer devices that support Video Relay Service applications?
    Yes, Verizon Wireless does offer devices that support VRS applications. These devices operate on our 3G or 4G LTE network. They have a front facing camera in order for the VRS application to work effectively.

  2. What video chat options are available on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S?
    The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S has a feature called FaceTime®. FaceTime is used over Wi-Fi to communicate with another iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S user. The two parties can communicate with each other using the front facing camera on the device.
    The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S can also be used for VRS calling. You will need to download a VRS application to your iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S to communicate with a VRS operator.

  3. Are there specific calling plans for customers who do not use voice to communicate?
    Yes, Verizon Wireless has specially designed plans for our customers that do not use voice and will work perfectly with video calling.
    The plans designed for the deaf or hard of hearing are our Nationwide Messaging plans. They are data only plans, with no voice allowance as part of the package. These data only plans are $54.99/month for Smartphone, BlackBerry® and iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S devices which have 2 GB of data and unlimited messaging. Or if you choose to use a basic phone, which you can’t use to make a video call, your plan is $34.99.

    No, there are different plans for phones than there are for tablets.

  5. Where can I get the phones or tablets that have front facing cameras that will support VRS applications?
    Devices that will allow for video calling are available at any Verizon Wireless Store or you can go to VerizonWireless.com to order a device.

  6. Do you offer wireless devices that support closed captioning phone calls?
    Yes, Verizon Wireless offers devices that support closed captioning applications. Closed captioning applications are supported on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, Apple iPad 2, Android Smartphones™ and Tablets. The applications can be found in the Apple iPhone App store or Android Market™place. For the best experience use a hands free headset so you can hear and speak while reading the captions.

    Yes, in most cases, you can bring your phone number with you from another company. That is called “porting your number.”
