Best Wireless Service In The World

Verizon Wireless was named the "Best Wireless Service in the World" in the "2012 Global Traveler's Tested Reader Survey Awards." The award was based on a survey of readers' opinions on the companies that had made international business and luxury travel easier and more enjoyable. This honor reaffirms Verizon Wireless' commitment to offering excellent services for customers traveling abroad.  

Premier 100 IT Leader

Todd Bell, senior vice president of IT infrastructure management at Verizon Wireless, was named a "Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader for 2013." This annual award honors individuals who have made a positive impact on their organization through technology. After being nominated, the candidates answered a questionnaire, which was analyzed using the Computerworld IT Leader Index to determine the winners who best represented the characteristics of a Premier IT Leader. Bell was selected for his overall leadership and project management skills, which allow Verizon Wireless to serve their customers more efficiently and effectively.

#3 Most Powerful Person in Wireless

Lowell McAdam, chief executive officer, chairman and president of Verizon Communications, ranked No. 3 on FierceWireless.com's list of the "25 Most Powerful People in U.S. Wireless 2012." The annual list ranked the most influential players in the U.S. mobile sector. McAdam was selected for his role in orchestrating Verizon Wireless' multi-billion dollar spectrum purchase deal, which gave Verizon enough spectrum for at least the next four to five years. McAdams was also recognized for the launch of the shared data plans.  

Top Military Friendly Employer

Verizon Communications' commitment to helping veterans and active members of the military was recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine's ranking the company No. 15 on its list of "Top 100 Military Friendly Employers." Of the 5,000 eligible companies, only two percent made the list. Companies chosen for this elite list must show a commitment to the recruiting and hiring former military; have policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty; and the presence of special military recruitment programs.  

Winner of the Freedom Award
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, July 19, 2012
Verizon Wireless has been awarded the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) highest recognition, given to employers for exceptional support of Guard and Reserve employees. Employers are nominated for this award by Guardsmen and Reservists employees, and winners are chosen by a board of senior DoD official’s. Verizon Wireless was recognized for launching a program on their website that matches military skills with open positions, as well as maintaining a Veteran’s Advisory Board and sending care packages to deployed employees.

Top Diverse Emerging Leader
Diversity MBA Magazine, July 16, 2012
Viju S. Menton, vice president of Supply Chain Management for Verizon Communications, was named one of the Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Emerging Leaders by Diversity MBA Magazine. The leaders were selected from a group of more than 300 highly competitive candidates from public and privately held companies as well entrepreneurs, and not for profit organizations. The honorees will be featured in Diversity MBA Magazine’s Summer 2012 issue and will be honored at the magazine’s Awards Gala.

Best Company for Diversity

For the seventh year, Black Enterprise magazine named Verizon Communications to the publication’s list of the “40 Best Companies for Diversity.” The list was chosen by identifying corporations that best fostered an atmosphere of inclusion for African Americans within their workforce. The editors ofBlack Enterprise scored surveys submitted my employers that measured diversity in four key categories: employee base, senior management, board of directors and supplier diversity.

Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles

For the fourth time, Verizon Communications was named to the National Business Group on Health’s 2012 list of “Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles.” Verizon was recognized for their ongoing commitment to providing health improvement programs that encourage healthy lifestyles for their employees. Verizon Communications was awarded in the gold category for making cultural and environmental changes and developing comprehensive programs that support employees’ healthy lifestyle goals.

Fastest Mobile Network of 2012

PC Mag.com conducted a 30-city 3G and 4G network test across the United States throughout May 2012, and found that Verizon Wireless is the best nationwide choice for 4G. Using the DROID RAZR™ MAXX™ by Motorola, PC Mag.com tested the Verizon Wireless 4G and 3G networks against the other five major carriers, and after analyzing 240,000 lines of data, Verizon Wireless was named the fasted mobile network nationally. Verizon Wireless was also named the winner in all six regions tested, the Northeast, Southeast, North Central, South Central, Northwest and Southwest. The Verizon Wireless 4G network was praised for offering industry-leading coverage and relatively symmetrical speeds.

For the third time, Verizon Wireless has been honored as a recipient of the CIO 100 in CIO magazine, June 1, 2012. The annual CIO 100 program recognizes innovative organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. Verizon Wireless was selected for its creation of the innovative and unique streamlined Iconic Sales Portal, which enables the processing of high-volume consumer demand during the launches of eagerly anticipated devices across all sales channels, reducing the time it takes for customers to complete purchases at all touch points through a simple user interface.

Highest Standards of Excellence in Service

Verizon Wireless was a recipient of Amerinet’s 2012 Supplier Performance Award for services over $25 million for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes manufacturers, distributors and service providers that meet the highest standards of excellence through innovative ways to supply Amerinet members with quality products and services, delivered with outstanding performance and valued customer service. Amerinet is a leading national healthcare group purchasing organization.

Top Company for Diverse Managers

Diversity MBA Magazine ranked Verizon Communications No. 9 on the publication’s 2012 list of “50 Out Front for Diversity Leadership: Best Places for Diverse Managers to Work,” marking the seventh consecutive year that Verizon’s commitment to diversity has earned the company a Top 10 ranking on the list. The Diversity MBA list ranking is determined by how well companies implement intentional strategies based on accountability, succession planning, representation, retention and recruitment systems that allow and encourage managers of diverse backgrounds to excel and develop into leadership roles

Marketer of the Year

At the Asian American Advertising Federation’s (3AF) 2012 Asian Marketing Summit, Verizon Wireless was named as 3AF Marketer of the Year. Verizon Wireless was recognized for their ongoing commitment to multicultural marketing, and, specifically, the Asian American segment. The criteria used for award selection included successfully championing Asian American marketing initiatives through corporate infrastructure, demonstrating collaboration with community partners and generating a positive, long-term impact and commitment. Best Company for Multicultural Women

For the seventh consecutive year, Verizon Communications was named one of the best companies for multicultural women. Verizon Communications has been dedicated to promoting the advancement of multicultural women in the company with more than 18 percent of the company’s workforce made up of multicultural women. Initiatives such as leadership programs and workshops all help to encourage and develop career development within Verizon. Working Mother magazine’s list was based on information collected from each company regarding hiring, pay and promotions, as well as programs aimed towards certain multicultural demographics.

Best Corporate Citizen

Verizon Communications, for the fifth consecutive year, was included in Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 13th annual “100 Best Corporate Citizens List.” The list was formed using public information to evaluate 1,000 companies in the Russell 1000 index of large-cap companies, ranking their performance in seven key areas: climate change, employee relations, governance, environment, human rights, philanthropy and finance.

Reader’s Choice Top Wireless Carrier

PCMag.com recognized Verizon Wireless as top provider among major national carriers for highest satisfaction ratings as part of the outlet’s 2012 Readers Choice Awards. Verizon Wireless received consistently high ratings for coverage in and outside of the home area, network reliability and satisfaction with data network speeds.

World-Class Diversity Program
Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, February 15, 2012
For the eighth year, Verizon Communications was recognized by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), earning a spot on the annual listing of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises. Verizon Communications was honored for its world-class supplier diversity program, which creates a level playing field for women’s business enterprises to compete for corporate contracts.

Best in Employee Training

Verizon Communications captured the No. 1 spot on Training Magazine’s Top 125 list. This is the 11th consecutive year that they have been included on the list, but the first year they have earned the top spot. The list ranks company training programs based on a variety of criteria, including effectiveness, impact on the business, total training budget, number of training hours per employee program and workplace surveys. Verizon was recognized for devoting more than nine million training hours to employees, creating a culture that drives shareholder value creation and the use of technology as an effective way to deliver quick online and on-demand training lessons to employees. This year, Verizon also received the distinction of being one of five companies given the Best Practices Award.

Leader in Customer Care

Verizon Wireless has the ranked the “Highest Ranked Customer Service Performance among Full Service Wireless Providers” in J.D. Power and Associates’ 2012 Wireless Customer Care Performance StudySM – Volume 1. Based on a survey of more than 9,098 wireless subscribers, Verizon Wireless received an overall satisfaction score of 762, leading the industry average. The study focused on how well the wireless carrier provided service to their customers through three different contact methods: telephone calls with customer services representatives or automated response systems, online and visits to retail stores during the six month period the test took place.

Top Company for Multicultural Business Opportunity

DiversityBusiness.com ranked Verizon Communications No. 8 on the site’s 2012 list of “Top 50 Companies for Multicultural Business Opportunities.” The companies on this list were selected in an annual poll of minority and women-owned suppliers, based up on factors including volume, consistency and quality of business initiatives that a company grants to multicultural suppliers. Over 1,250,000 diversity business owners participated in an online election to determine the top organizations. 

Unbeatable 4G LTE at 2012 CES

In SlashGear.com’s “Best Of” wrap up for CES 2012 , Verizon Wireless had the distinction of being named the “Best Mobile Carrier.” According to SlashGear, there are two requirements for a wireless carrier to perform at maximum efficiency, consistency of data signal and the actual data strength. Verizon Wireless easily met these requirements in a way that other carriers were unable to. (14 Jan. 2012)

Best Product of CES

Cult of Mac.com declared Verizon Wireless’ network the best product of CES 2012. While many other carriers’ networks faltered under the usage demands of the conference, the Verizon Wireless network proved to be up to the task with fully functioning data, voice, text and tethering capabilities throughout the conference.
