Enhanced 911 - Emergency calls placed to 911 are routed to designated emergency call-takers known as Public Safety Answering Points or PSAPs. Verizon Wireless provides PSAPs that have upgraded their equipment with Enhanced 911 or E911 service, which automatically provides call takers with the telephone number and information to help them determine the estimated location of the 911 caller to assist them in dispatching emergency assistance.
Note: Don’t let your kids play with old cell phones.
Avoid Potential Hearing Loss - Common sense recommendations for avoiding potential hearing loss.
Because old cell phones are still able to call 9-1-1 even if they are not active with a wireless carrier, they should not be used as a toy. If you have an old cell phone, please consider donating it to the HopeLine from Verizon program detailed below.
Implantable Medical Devices - Important information regarding wireless phone use for those with pacemakers and other implantable medical devices.
HopeLine® from Verizon - where no-longer-used phones are safely recycled and the proceeds are used to help prevent domestic violence.
